F1 | Stewart has no doubts: “Verstappen has started the generational change in Formula 1”

In a chat given to the microphones of F1 Voice, Jackie Stewart praised the work carried out by Red Bull on Max Verstappen, underlining how the Dutchman's performances have offered Formula 1 a new opportunity, especially as regards young drivers.

The standard bearer of the Austrian Scuderia, in fact, is marking a real era within the Circus, given that many teams are following the path taken by Helmut Marko, promoting new talents within their line-ups.

Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris are the symbols of this turnover, but Antonio Giovinazzi, Alexander Albon, Pierre Gasly and George Russell should also not be underestimated. A necessary replacement, especially after the latest defections, which will help Formula 1 chart the path for the next seasons.

Here are the words of Jackie Stewart: “We need young drivers and new blood. The really interesting thing is that they are out there, just look at Max Verstappen. His arrival was a real surprise and his performances allowed Formula 1 to rejuvenate. Credit must certainly be given to Red Bull, given that they bet on him."

“Today's problem is resources”, he added. “Young people struggle to find the right means to get to Formula 1 and this blocks the entire generational turnover system. Everything could change if more multinationals took an interest in this sport. There would be more opportunities for young people and it would give everyone the opportunity to climb to the top of motorsport".
