The Haas team principal calls out the Frenchman for his excessive impetuosity in communicating with the wall during the race

F1 | Steiner: “Grosjean's radio teams? His counterproductive attitude, but I won't change him."

The fiery radio teams of Romain Grosjean have become one of the main themes of 2017 at home Haas. The complaints and outbursts of the French pilot, known for his smoking temper, have been around for some time, despite theimpatience of the US team who, without distorting his instincts, would like a more balanced attitude.

Guenther Steiner, Haas team principal, focused on the issue: “In Austin (where Grosjean came 14th, ed.) he was too worried and confused, so I told him that we could listen to him, but if he kept talking, we wouldn't be able to communicate with him. If you're on the radio all the time how can we tell you what to do? Someone has to stop him and usually that someone is me. Even if I 'studied' this case, I couldn't solve it. Now I think he has relaxed and realized that there is no point; I don't want to say it's good or bad, right or wrong, just that it's counterproductive, so why would he do that when it is possible to work constructively? He has his outbursts but they are usually very short, not like in Austin where we had a bad day! We usually talk about it: not about how we might fix it, but about what he thinks. He has calmed down but still has his peaks: I won't change it".
