Formula 1 | Steiner on Imola: “It's important to take advantage of what we learned in Bahrain”
"We have recent experience in Imola and this can help us," said the Haas manager
Interviewed by the official Haas website, Gunther Steiner outlined the objectives for the next Emilia Romagna and Made in Italy Grand Prix, the second round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship, highlighting how the American team will try to make the most of what it learned in the weekend course in Bahrain.
Despite the obvious difficulties from a technical point of view, Steiner intends to get his riders to give 100% over the next weekend, so as to take advantage of all the opportunities that the team will have during the three days. Schumacher and Mazepin, we remember, will drive a Formula 1 car for the first time in Imola.
“We are aware of the car's performance and therefore expectations for the weekend in Bahrain were not high,” said Mick Schumacher. “I think the two drivers did a good job over the weekend, even if the race didn't go as we expected. Nikita spun and damaged the car, while Mick spun and overall it was a learning weekend for him. We have to do more, work hard, learn and accumulate as many kilometers as possible. This is the mission."
On Imola he instead declared: “We raced less than five months ago at the “Santerno” and it can prove to be a useful weapon, especially from a set-up point of view. The cars have changed, so there will be some differences, but it's always nice to return to a track a few months after racing there the previous season. We will try to put into practice everything we have learned in recent weeks. The experience gained in Bahrain will certainly help Mick and Nikita to give 100% during the next Emilia Romagna and Made in Italy Grand Prix".
