F1 | Statistics, Chinese GP: Hamilton the most successful

Over the weekend, Formula One returns to the track for the Chinese Grand Prix, on the Shanghai track, now in its fifteenth edition, in the first back-to-back of the 2018 season.

The driver who boasts the most successes on Chinese soil is Lewis Hamilton. In fact, the four-time English world champion has achieved five victories. Furthermore, the Mercedes standard-bearer also boasts the highest number of pole positions (6).

On the podium of this special ranking, Hamilton he precedes Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg with two wins each. The German himself, in 2012, achieved his first career double (pole and victory) in Shanghai, allowing Mercedes to return to the forefront of Formula One after almost 47 years. Also noteworthy is Alonso's victory, achieved in 2013, aboard the Ferrari thanks also to impeccable tire management.

Even for Michael Schumacher the Chinese track evokes sweet memories, where in 2006 he achieved his 91st and final career victory at the end of a majestic performance, achieved in mixed track conditions. The following edition (2007) was also full of pathos and twists, where Kimi Raikkonen prevailed, favored by the withdrawal of Lewis Hamilton's McLaren-Mercedes which failed in the first world championship match ball... which later proved fatal in the epilogue of Interlagos.

As far as teams are concerned, Mercedes is the team with the most successes (5, one more than Ferrari) and with the most starts (6).
