F1 | Sirotkin on the Williams crisis: “Problems that cannot be solved with an upgrade package”

Interviewed by the Russian media on the crisis that is affecting the Williams team, Sergey Sirotkin underlined how the team had already foreseen a situation of this type in 2018, highlighting how the simple evolutionary packages studied in the wind tunnel are not enough to revive a tragic situation, especially from a technical point of view.

According to the current SMP Racing driver, in fact, Williams needs a profound restructuring, especially in the departments that deal with the development of the car, so as to guarantee a profoundly different management of work compared to the current one.

“I don't want to say too much, but around the middle of last season it was clear that our problems were extremely deep,” Sergey Sirotkin told Match TV correspondent Alexey Popov. “That's when we realized that the solution to our problems wasn't a couple of upgrades, but reworking the structure itself and the car's construction processes.”
