F1 | Sauber, Zander: “C36 wider and lower”

In an interview given to the Sauber website, Jörg Zander commented on the technical innovations that the Swiss team has brought into the design of the C36. The new single-seater reflects the new regulations drawn up for the 2017 season to the letter and therefore it is possible to observe various innovations which will increase the aerodynamic load and cornering speeds. According to Zander, the C36 is significantly wider than the C35 and features some “innovative” solutions that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Also interesting is the rear fin and side deflectors which will channel air to the rear to generate more load.

Here are the words of Sauber's Technical Director: “The machines are wider as we go from 1,80 to 2 meters wide. Furthermore, the new tires will allow for greater performance given that there has been an increase in road surface area of 25%. We studied various solutions to increase the aerodynamic load and the results in the tunnel were positive. Lap times will drop and drivers will be able to have truly high-performance cars in their hands. When the cards are shuffled, new opportunities always arise for everyone and must be seized."
