F1 | Sauber, Wehrlein: “A typical Friday free practice session”
Ericsson: "It was a positive day"
During the free practice sessions ahead of the next Spanish Grand Prix, the fifth round of the 2017 Formula One World Championship, the Sauber team introduced some new aerodynamic parts on both C36-Ferraris, including a new rear wing, front brake ducts and new front wing flaps. The target? Obviously maximize the package in view of the European season. A fairly positive day given that the first results met the expectations of the Swiss team.
Here are the words of Marcus Ericsson: “It was a positive day. We introduced some new parts today that worked as expected. We also tried different set-ups which helped us make the car slightly more competitive. Driving on the medium and hard tires was quite difficult, but with the softs the situation improved, especially in FP2, which is positive for tomorrow. We must continue to push to make as many steps forward as possible."
Here are Pascal Wehrlein's impressions: “A typical Friday practice session where we were able to collect some important data, especially regarding the new parts. It's difficult to make predictions given that we also had some problems with the car. In this sense, we are trying to understand what slowed us down. However, I am optimistic that we can improve the car for tomorrow."
