F1 | Sauber, Wehrlein: “I don't understand Button's maneuver”

Disastrous weekend for Sauber on the Monaco track. Despite the team's enormous efforts, Pascal Wehrlein and Marcus Ericsson were unable to complete the 78 laps of today's race, ending up in the barriers at the very end of the race. The German took the risk of stopping in the very first laps of the race, battling with Jenson Button until lap seventy, when, due to an overly aggressive attack by the Englishman, he ended up against the barriers of the Portier. The Swede is also out, having made a bad mistake on Saints Devote during the safety car regime.

Here are the words of Marcus Ericsson: “It was a very tough weekend from start to finish. It was a decent race considering the pace we had this weekend. Unfortunately I had some brake problems behind the safety car and this forced me to retire. Furthermore, the tire temperatures were not ideal and this penalized my restart. It was a shame, but we will try to make up for it in the next round of the championship."

Here are Pascal Wehrlein's impressions: “I feel good after the accident. I managed to get out of the car on my own and the visits to the medical center were ok, so no problems. His head hit the barriers and we will decide in the next few days whether I will need another medical investigation, also due to the previous injury to the thoracic vertebra. I am very upset because what happened is the result of a reckless move on Jenson's part. An annoying accident that shouldn't have happened."
