F1 | Sauber, Vasseur: “A young man like Leclerc would be a good profile for us”

The renewal of the agreement for the supply of engines between Sauber and Ferrari could open up important scenarios for the drivers' market in view of next season.

Sauber could become that junior team of Maranello that president Sergio Marchionne mentioned the Hungaroring when discussing with the media before the race.

In fact, one of Charles Leclerc or Antonio Giovinazzi could land in Hinwil, although the possibility that the Cavallino places both of its drivers in the Swiss team is not excluded. First, however, we will need to plan the future of the current Sauber drivers, namely Pascal Wehrlein and Marcus Ericsson.

Frederic Vasseur, new Sauber team principal, expressed his opinion on a line-up for next season, leaving open this market possibility in synergy with Ferrari: "In a team like ours, a driver like Leclerc or even other young people would make sense – he declared in an interview with Motorsport.com – although it is still too early to talk about pilots. We'll talk about it over the next few weeks, I think it will be difficult to do it before September".
