F1 | Sauber, Vasseur confirms: “The agreement with Honda has fallen through”

Despite the denials in recent weeks, Frederic Vasseur has confirmed that the agreement with Honda for next season has lapsed. Sauber has chosen not to bet on the Japanese engine manufacturer, looking for valid alternatives for the 2018 season. Surprising news, especially for the economic situation of the team, given that the Japanese engine manufacturer would have offered its units completely free of charge.

A fairly large project which also included large investments in the technical department. The Swiss Scuderia has chosen the stability of an engine engineer who is not facing an endless crisis and for this very reason it is likely that in the coming weeks he will seek a new agreement with Ferrari, perhaps including a young driver from the FDA in the line-up for the next season (Antonio Giovinazzo or Charles Leclerc.ndr).

Here are the words of Frederic Vasseur: “We thank Honda for their availability and support, but we have chosen not to continue with this agreement. It is a strategic choice for the good of Sauber and we are certain that the relationships will remain the same despite this step backwards. We wish them all the best for their future in F1."
