Possible agreement to replace Ferrari?

F1 | Sauber, Honda interested in supply for 2018

Sauber would be interested in Honda power units for the 2018 season. According to what Autosport reports, in fact, the Japanese engine manufacturer is looking for a partner to support McLaren with regards to the development of its power train on the track. Sauber, we remember, has collaborated with Ferrari for many years, but the economic crisis faced during the last season would have damaged relations with Maranello. Pascal Wehrlein and Marcus Ericsson will race in the next world championship with an old 2016 unit and Monisha Kaltenborn, also given the "fresh" capital arrived from some new investors, would like to find a less expensive alternative from an economic point of view for 2018 (date expiry of the current agreement with Maurizio Arrivabene.ndr).

The desire of the McLaren-Honda duo would be to create a small "junior team" where they can field some talents from their own academy and have another reference with regards to the power unit's on-track performance.

We will certainly know more during the next season.
