F1 | Sauber, Ericsson: “The start of the race was good, shame about the retirement”

Meager loot for the Clean at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez: the retirement of Marcus Ericsson and the 14th (penultimate) place of pascal wehrlein they do not allow the Swiss team to collect points and shake up a ranking that has been compromised for some time. Yet, compared to previous races, both C36s on the track managed to take advantage of the vicissitudes of others and, in some phases, to battle on equal terms with the other teams: certainly an aspect from which to start again in view of the last two events of the season.

These are the words released by Ericsson at the end of the Mexican GP: “The start of the race was good. During the first stint it was competitive, so I managed to stay in the top ten. It was a promising aspect, I felt comfortable in the car. We were unlucky with the Virtual Safety Car, because it came out two laps after my pit stop. It was a shame, I lost a couple of positions there. Finally, after a generally positive weekend, unfortunately I had to withdraw (lap 57, ed.)".

Here, instead, is the comment Wehrlein: “I did the best I could during the race. It was difficult to get close to the direct competition because most of the drivers had softer mixtures than mine. Despite that, I am satisfied with the consistency of my performance. It gives me confidence that better results can be achieved in the next races.".
