F1 | Sainz: “If Red Bull dominates it's because they deserve it”

It is a Red Bull which has left only crumbs that admired in these first two events of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship. The Milton Keynes team has in fact monopolized the Circus scene both in Bahrain and in Jeddah, where it achieved two doubles in which Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez took turns on the top step of the podium.

Among the teams that emerged "defeated" from these first two rounds of the championship were the two disappointed teams, namely Mercedes and Ferrari, with Carlos Sainz who congratulated Red Bull for the dominance shown so far. The Spaniard, who knows the Red Bull universe very well, having grown up in the Academy of the Anglo-Austrian team until his debut in Formula 1 with Toro Rosso, underlined how we should not be surprised or complain about the results achieved on the track as they are the result of a better job than the competition.

“I have never been worried about a dominating team – said Sainz, quoted by RaceFans – Because if they are, they have done an excellent job, they deserve it. Of course, I wish we were there. I would be angry if people were worried that we were damaging Formula 1. This is a sport more for single-seaters than for drivers. We know it makes a difference, even if Red Bull has a very strong line up."

Sainz then added: “But if a car is really good, all the other drivers can't do much to stay in the fight. It's the nature of Formula 1 and we've seen it in the past, it's nothing new. Max's recovery from fifteenth position shows that they are in another championship."
