F1 | Sainz, excellent impressions after his debut in Ferrari

The week of testing organized by Ferrari on the Fiorano track was an important opportunity for the drivers to regain that feeling with the single-seater after a fair period of inactivity. The greatest attention, and it could not have been otherwise, was directed towards Carlos Sainz who thus made his debut on a Red in the SF71H - the car used by the Cavallino with Vettel and Raikkonen in the 2018 season.

The Spaniard, called by Maranello to take up the legacy of Sebastian Vettel by forming with Charles Leclerc the youngest pair of drivers who had not been seen in Ferrari since the end of the 60s, carried out his work program without problems which took him between Wednesday and Thursday morning to complete over 150 laps.

Sainz, day after day, continues to become more and more familiar with the Ferrari universe after having crossed the gates of Maranello for the first time last December 18th. Since then, the new Cavallino standard bearer has spent important weeks studying, holding meetings with the technical department (his track engineer will be Riccardo Adami, the same one Vettel had) and spending several hours in the simulator.

As collected by colleagues at Formu1a.uno, Sainz's debut on the track, which took place under the eyes of president John Elkann, aroused excellent impressions from both a technical and communicative point of view. In fact, the Fiorano experience helped Carlos to begin to become familiar with the Scuderia's various procedures, despite the fact that the single-seater used is two years old and has nothing to do with the 2021 one.

The Spaniard will have to wait a little longer for the new one, given that the pre-season tests will take place in Bahrain from 12 to 14 March. The first "trip" of the SF21 will in fact take place on March 11th, where it will carry out the filming day and those 100 advertising kilometers foreseen by the regulation.

The road will certainly not be free of obstacles for Sainz, given the difficult last season where Ferrari did not go beyond sixth place in the constructors' championship, but the start has been encouraging. In fact, La Rossa can count on a young talent who will certainly not miss this important opportunity that fate has offered him.
