F1 | Sainz: “Mercedes and Ferrari are in another category”

Except for a few flashes of Red Bull, the 2017 World Formula 1 has so far been monopolized by Mercedes e Ferrari. This is a situation that does not satisfy the other teams, who are too far from the performances of the two leading teams. To underline this general malaise Carlos Sainz, pilot of the Toro Rosso: “I want to think that the gap will be closed, but I think the difference between the top teams and the others is too big at the moment” – explains the Spaniard. “The gap has increased significantly this year, Mercedes and Ferrari are in a championship of their own, have different economic resources than others and a different possibility of development".

"At the moment – continues Sainz – we have two different categories in Formula 1 and this is a situation that is not good for sport. Let's hope that something changes next year. We at Toro Rosso, a mid-table team, no longer even look at what Mercedes, for example, is doing, as it is currently in a higher category.".
