F1 | Sainz Jr: “I would like to stay at Renault”

The Spanish driver has expressed his desire to remain within the French team for next year too. Currently however, he is on loan as Red Bull he has control over his contract.

And if, Daniel Ricciardo were to leave the Austrian team, his place could be taken by Carlos Sainz. But another factor could be the imminent passage of Red Bull laid down by the Renault to the Honda.

The boss of Renault, Cyril Abiteboul he admitted that he was happy to have the 23-year-old on the team.

“It would be a pleasure to stay in the team”, said Sainz a El Pais.

“I'm happy where I am, I think the team has a lot of potential and, whatever happens, I'm happy with how things are going at Renault”.

The advisor of the French team, Alain Prost, agrees that Nico Hulkenberg and Sainz are working well together.

“Sometimes in a team there are big differences in the attitude of the drivers or how they work with the engineers. These two together do very well. The important thing is that they go in the same direction and push the team to be the best.".

“The loyalty we receive from our two drivers -added Abiteboul- It's crucial because we're still building the team. We are not at the top level yet, so we cannot think individually.".

Despite the Red Bull option, Sainz wants to achieve success with the yellow single-seater:

“I have my ambitions and I'm very competitive. I like to win. Currently in Formula 1 there are three teams that have an advantage of a second and a half over the rest and we are the most competitive in the middle of the pack. We know that it's not something that changes overnight, we still have to grow and we hope to do so in the coming years. We're in no hurry.".
