F1 | Sainz: “If I were Vettel, I would be worried”

McLaren driver Carlos Sainz expressed his opinion on his rivals in the championship, starting with Lewis Hamilton:

“I would give Lewis a 9 or a 10 -the Spaniard declared to Movistar- Since Rosberg retired, his level has risen as he has less pressure. Verstappen is perhaps better than him, but he made a mistake at Spa. Bottas is always there, but he doesn't materialize. It's at a high level, but Hamilton has something that is difficult to explain. He's so relaxed, like he's smoking a cigar.”

Regarding the hiring of Esteban Ocon at Renault, Sainz admitted that he was not surprised:

“Last year we were already talking about it at Renault. They wanted to sign with him, they wanted a Frenchman as a bonus. But I was surprised that they didn't keep Hulkenberg. He was unable to take advantage of the first races alongside Ricciardo."

Regarding the situation at Ferrari, Sainz believes that Sebastian Vettel should start watching his back:

“If I were him, I would worry especially about Sundays. On Saturday, a young guy like Leclerc can beat him, but if Charles shows that pace in the race too, then it's a big concern."

The Spaniard then criticized the FOM filming, claiming that he was not often seen by the cameras:

“I get quite angry because when I watch the races at home I don't see myself. They completely missed important moments, like Austria when I went from 20th to eighth place and they showed nothing."

Finally, the 25-year-old reiterated that he has no regrets about leaving Red Bull:

“I'm doing well, I don't miss Red Bull. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
