F1 | Sainz is looking forward to the restart: "10 laps will be enough to regain the feeling with the car"

2021 will be Ferrari-tinged but the present and near future of Carlos Sainz instead speaks of McLaren. In fact, the Spaniard can't wait to get back on track (the start of the World Championship, pending the official announcement, should take place on July 5th in Austria).

In this regard, the current driver from Woking admitted that it will take a few laps to find the right feeling with the single-seater after several months of inactivity.

“I think it will take a few laps to feel exactly 100%, but not many. I would say no more than 10 laps – underlined Charles Leclerc's next partner -. Finding the correct limit in Formula One? Maybe in the first free practice when you go out with a set of hard tyres, you push and then you cool down, you push and you cool down, you push and you cool down and then suddenly you put on a new set you go fast and you say: 'Oh, I'm starting to feel the G forces and the points of braking and my head is once again in a Formula One car".

Sainz then added: “First of all I want to be able to go back to see my engineers, my mechanics and have a chat with them. I want to get back into the real McLaren simulator, start testing some things to prepare for the first race which will get my excitement and adrenaline pumping. This means that we are close to the first race of the year. It's all going to be step by step and I can't wait for it to happen".
