The first free practice session of the Qatar Grand Prix saw Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc set the sixth and seventh times respectively, although the objective of the first hour for Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow was above all to accumulate laps to allow the drivers to get familiar with the new track.
53 rpm. Ferrari was the second team to lap the most: 26 laps with Carlos and 27 with Charles. Both started the session on Medium tyre, improving continuously up to Leclerc's 1'25"617 and Sainz's 1'26"045. In the second part of the session, Soft tires were fitted with which Carlos set a time of 1'24”713, while Charles stopped the clock at 1'24”790.
