F1 | Sainz: “It will be a good fight with McLaren”

Carlos Sainz expects a good battle with McLaren for third place in the constructors' championship. In an interview granted to Speedcafè, the Ferrari Iberian spoke about the objectives for the Red team for the 2021 world championship, highlighting how the team is doing its utmost to win the competition from the Woking Scuderia. Despite the excellent performances shown by Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo in the first two rounds of the season, the Red standard bearer believes that the SF21 has all it takes to compete for important positions in the standings, an aspect that must push the team to give 100 % in terms of commitment and development.

“The fight with McLaren? I'm sure we'll have fun." said the Iberian from Ferrari. “At the moment it is very difficult to say with certainty who is the favorite to win third place in the constructors' standings: McLaren has several strengths, but also some weaknesses.”

“We too, however, need to improve in some aspects,” he continued. “So far we have raced on circuits that have rewarded the characteristics of the MCL35M, just think of the results obtained by Norris in the two Grands Prix held so far, however I am sure that when we race on tracks that favor the SF21 more we will be able to stay ahead of him. We have a good battle ahead of us and I can't wait to fight."
