F1 | Russell teases Mercedes: "For the future I would like a two-year contract"

In the opening press conference of the next Monaco Grand Prix, the fifth round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship, George Russell "teased" Mercedes about a possible commitment to Brackley starting from 2022, highlighting how the hope is to sign a relationship multi-year contract with the team with which he will compete in the near future.

According to what the current Williams driver declared, changing seats, with an aerodynamic revolution upon us, requires time and above all adaptation, which would obviously be optimized with an agreement "spread" over several seasons. An extremely interesting statement, given that the Briton seems close to signing a contract with the world champion team for next year.

“I think I'm in a good position because at the end of the year I'll be free and wherever I am I would like to close an agreement for at least a couple of seasons,” said the Englishman. “It is very important for a driver to have the certainty of being safe within a team, so as to build a relationship with which to grow with due calm and serenity. We saw this year how hard my colleagues who changed teams are having. Adapting to the new reality is not at all easy and is a process that requires time and patience."

Congratulations also to Norris for his multi-year renewal with McLaren: “I'm very happy for him, he deserves it. Lando is reaping extraordinary results and in 2022 with McLaren he could be a real threat to the top teams."
