F1 | Russell praises Hamilton: "He gives his all both on and off the track"

Lewis Hamilton, with his fifth world title won in 2018, stood out for his extraordinary management skills, especially in crucial moments, when he outclassed Vettel especially from a mental aspect. Much criticized in the past for his constant commitments, the Englishman has shown that he can bring everything together, carrying forward his brand and at the same time getting the most out of it on the track, thanks certainly to an extraordinary car, but also to the way of working with everything the team. A direct testimony comes from George Russell, today at Williams but last year always present in the Mercedes garage as third driver.

“There are different perceptions of Lewis' commitment over the course of the year – Russell said Motorsport. He has different activities, but he is a very talented driver and on the track he works his a** off to maximize everything, pushing the team towards victory and motivating everyone. He has worked very hard, he doesn't just rely on his talent, but he is there working with and for the team. I think he has improved with age, he knows that he can't rely on speed if the car doesn't work, so you have to be able to push the team in the right direction. I'm also trying to excel in all areas: if you want to become world champion you can't simply rely on your speed on the track, or at least you can't focus only on that. In Formula 1 it takes a lot more, because you represent brands and there are a number of sponsors who help you race and you have to give them something in return, and by doing so they help us develop the car further. It's a complete package and it's something Lewis is doing really well at the moment. What he does on the track is just as good as what he does off the track, everyone wants to see him and talk to him."
