F1 | Ross Brawn after retirement: “I will always be available for my friends in Formula 1”

After decades of an honored career, Ross Brawn has said enough and will no longer be part of Formula 2023 from 1. The British engineer, famous above all for the victories achieved together with Michael Schumacher before in Benetton and then in Ferrari he was almost one of a kind, both as technical director and as team principal and owner of a winning team, and finally as part of Liberty Media, head of the Circus. A figure like him will certainly be missed in Formula 1, but he will always be available for any advice.

“The interest will always be there – Brawn admitted to Autosport. Stefano Domenicali is a very good friend, and for him my phone will always be on, so if I can help without taking up too much of my time, I will be happy to do so. I'm talking about consultative roles, not active ones. Formula 1 is a wonderful sport, a combination of technology and driving talent: you can have great drivers in slow cars and mediocre ones in very strong cars, and sometimes you also have very strong drivers in equally extraordinary cars. Taking athletics or tennis as an example, there is always someone at the top and difficult to beat unless he is absent or having a bad day. In this sport you win, you have moments of dominance, then someone comes along and makes a lot of progress with the car, and all of a sudden you're not winning anymore. Everything is more dynamic, as is having different tracks available. It's a unique sport of its kind, I'm happy to see how the passion has grown after years of stagnation."
