F1 | Rosberg on Hamilton-Ferrari: “It seems that Lewis made the right choice”

At least at the moment, seeing the performances that emerged on the track in these first races of the season, it seems that Lewis Hamilton made the right decision in deciding to leave Mercedes at the end of the season to open an incredible new chapter in the final part of his career at Ferrari.

Nico Rosberg, who shared the experience with the Englishman in the Stella team where he also managed to get the better of the 2016 world championship clash, believes that the timing of the seven-time world champion in this case too can make the difference as happened for the move from McLaren to Mercedes in 2013.

“It was a big surprise,” Rosberg told Sky Sports F1 – Nobody expected it. But if we look at the bigger picture of things, why not? We are towards the end of his career. There are two legendary teams, Mercedes and Ferrari, and I know Lewis has always been a big fan of Ferrari road cars too. So why not make that change and have a different experience of driving dressed in red at least once?”.

The German, continuing with his thoughts, added: “At the moment, in terms of performance, he seems to have made the right decision. It seems he has made a big move like he did 12 years ago by moving from McLaren to Mercedes."

The 2016 world champion then concluded: “McLaren was winning races and Mercedes was nowhere, and the moment they made their move McLaren fell back and Mercedes started winning races. Maybe he will be able to have the same timing."
