F1 | Hamilton renewal, Wolff speaks: "We already agreed with Lewis"

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes have renewed their collaborative relationship also for 2021. What seemed to be a complicated negotiation, and which in some ways led (at the moment) to the extension for just one year has caused discussion in the last three months, given that the Briton has in fact been without a contract for 37 days, at least officially. Toto Wolff, CEO of Mercedes wanted to comment on the renewal of the British champion.

“We have always agreed with Lewis that we would continue together, but the unusual 2020 we have experienced meant that everything was postponed – Toto admitted. It was decided all together, extending the relationship for another season and starting a long-term project shared with him to ensure greater diversity in our sport. Lewis' record is a valuable ambassador for our brand and our partners, the story between him and Mercedes is written in the Formula 1 history books for the last eight seasons, but we are still hungry and want to continue adding more chapters."
