One of the most heated discussions of recent times certainly concerns the inverted grid. Let's explain better: Liberty Media had proposed, in the second race in Austria and Great Britain, to replace the Saturday qualifying with a reverse grid Sprint Race, i.e. decided by the world ranking, but seen from last to first. There were more arguments in favor of this proposal than expected, but without the unanimity of the teams it was not possible to implement it. In fact, Mercedes opposed it, and therefore we will remain with the classic Saturday qualifying. Daniel Ricciardo was asked on the topic, live on the Formula 1 account on Instagram.

“I'm not always old school, but I think it's not among our priorities to change in our sport – Ricciardo said. I understand that some fans might like it, it would be nice to see other riders battling in the middle of the group or even in front, from that point of view it would be fine, but I see other scenarios, and it wouldn't work, it would make everything a little more confusing. It could be exciting from some points of view, but I think from a racing point of view, I don't think it's the right solution."
