F1 | Ricciardo surprised by Ferrari's difficulties at Spa

The Australian Renault driver admitted that he was particularly surprised by the difficulties encountered by the Maranello team in the Belgian Grand Prix. The Renault driver finished fourth at Spa, nine places ahead of the Ferrari pair.

“It's difficult to really know how long these results will last for the team. I find it hard to think that it will last long. But at the same time I didn't expect their results to be like this, or for them to struggle as much as they did, at least at Spa. There was talk before the weekend that they would have a difficult time and obviously that turned out to be the case. I'm definitely in a bit of trouble right now."

Ricciardo was in the running to replace Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari, but he clarified that his decision was not down to the fact that the team could suffer a decline:

“I never thought about it but I'm sure they will learn a lot from this year and I'm sure they will recover at least for a better position next year”.
