F1 | Ricciardo does not close the doors to McLaren: "They will need an experienced driver if Alonso leaves"

Daniel Ricciardo continues to be the most talked about driver of the moment. In fact, the market rumors surrounding the figure of the Australian continue Red Bull, with the contract expiring at the end of the season.

The last team, in chronological order, that set its sights on Ricciardo would appear to be the McLaren. According to rumors coming from Germany, the Woking team would be willing to guarantee him a top salary of 20 million euros.

On the subject, in all honesty, the Perth pilot declared: “Everyone was talking about Mercedes and Ferrari as potential places to go, but I am aware of the interest from other teams and I imagine McLaren is one of them. It probably depends on what Fernando does (Alonso, ed.), if he decides to go or stay”. In fact, the Spaniard, fresh winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Toyota #8, could decide to dedicate himself entirely to the Indianapolis 500 to chase the Triple Crown.

"If he goes away – continued Ricciardo –  they will probably want a more experienced driver. We'll see, there are a lot of things to evaluate right now".

On the divorce between Red Bull and Renault and the new partnership with Honda, as of 2019, Ricciardo said: “I was aware of it, it's not a surprise to me. Renault has come a long way this year. We don't have a qualifying pace, but we are competitive in the race. Honda is improving with Toro Rosso, they are both on the rise".

"The priority is to have a title car – underlined the Australian -. Now that the team has resolved the engine issue, it would be nice to go into the summer break having achieved a positive streak".
