These are Ricciardo's first words: “It has probably been one of the most difficult decisions to make in my career so far, but I thought it was time for me to take on a new challenge. I realize there is a long time for Renault to reach its goal of competing at the highest level, but I have been impressed by the improvements achieved in just two years. I know that every time Renault has been in the sport, they have ultimately won. I hope to be able to help on this journey and contribute on and off the track.”

A salary that should be read as Renault's desire to fight for the top positions, as has often been reiterated during this season. These are the words of Jérôme Stoll, President of Renault Sport Racing: " Renault has decided to return to Formula 1 to fight for the Drivers' and Constructors' titles. The signing of Daniel Ricciardo represents a unique opportunity for Groupe Renault to achieve this important objective. We welcome Daniel to our team, still in progress, but more motivated than ever.”

Finally, the words of Cyril Abiteboul, Managing Director of Renault Sport Racing: “Daniel's signing underlines our determination to accelerate our progress towards the forefront of the sport. It is also a recognition of the work accomplished over the last two and a half seasons. Daniel's undisputed talent and charisma are a huge bonus and message to the team. We will have to repay his trust by giving him the best car possible. We welcome him to our growing team in 2019 with great pride, but also with humility.”
