F1 | Renault, Stoll: “The RS17 is the first single-seater entirely designed by Enstone and Viry”

Yesterday, in London, Renault Sport raised the curtain on its 2017 single-seater, the RS17, at a ceremony attended by international media and the team's partners. Paying homage to its new partners and sponsors, the presentation also revealed Renault Sport's new identity, which will strengthen the relationship between Renault Sport Racing and Renault Sport Cars. Equipped with the RE17 engine, Renault Sport Racing's powertrain, the RS17 has no common components with the RS16.

The design started from a blank sheet of paper, to adapt to the needs of the new regulation. It is also the first single-seater entirely designed by Renault Sport Racing, from its two bases located in Enstone (United Kingdom) and Viry-Châtillon (France). Thierry Koskas, Groupe Renault Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Jérôme Stoll and Cyril Abiteboul, respectively President and General Director of Renault Sport Racing, were present alongside the management and drivers of Renault Sport Formula One Team. On the same occasion, the Renault Sport Academy's 2017 promotion, comprising Jack Aitken, Max Fewtrell, Jarno Opmeer and Sun Yue Yang, who will all be supported by Renault Sport Racing during their campaigns in 2017. Jack will line up in the GP3 Series whilst Max, Jarno and Sun they will beat in Formula Renault Eurocup, whose grid should set a record, with 30 drivers participating.

Jérôme Stoll, President of Renault Sport Racing: “The RS17 is the first single-seater entirely designed and developed by Enstone and Viry, and we are very satisfied with this first cooperation. It's a magnificent car. The enthusiasm generated by the RS17 is reinforced by the arrival of BP, an essential partner with the BP and Castrol brands. For 2017, our on-track goals are clear. We want to take a visible and tangible step forward, both in terms of performance and results. We are aiming for fifth place in the Constructors' Championship."
