F1 | Renault, the Brazilian Caio Collet will participate in the "Senna Tribute"

Caio Collet, driver of the Renault Sport Academy, will get on the Formula 20 E1 (the 2012 Lotus so to speak) for a live demonstration, and will drive through the streets of Sao Paulo on Saturday 9 November on the occasion of the F1 Senna Tribute. The 17-year-old Brazilian was born and raised in Sao Paulo, and lives a stone's throw from Interlagos, home of the Brazilian Grand Prix. For the third time Renault will participate in this year's Fan Festivals: Guanyu Zhou became the first Chinese driver ever to drive a Formula 1 car through the streets of central Shanghai in April, while Daniel Ricciardo will be in Hollywood for the Los Angeles Fan Festival taking place in two weeks.

Caio joined the Renault Sport Academy at the beginning of 2019: he won the French Formula 4 title as a rookie last season, and recently clinched the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup championship with a round to spare, as a rookie. He has achieved five podiums so far this year, including third place in Monte Carlo during the Formula 1 weekend.

“I am happy to participate in the Formula 1 Festival – Collet said. Driving such a car through the streets of my city will be one of the best experiences of my life so far. I am very grateful to Renault for this opportunity, and it will be special for friends and family too! Formula 1 is very popular in Brazil, so driving this car in front of the most passionate fans in the world will be fantastic. I am proud to represent the team for this unique experience and pay homage to Ayrton Senna. It will be a special day."

“We are proud to go to Sao Paulo to bring Formula 1 closer to its fans – said Cyril Abiteboul, Renault team principal. It is an excellent initiative not only to grow our sport, but also to keep its approval rating high. Brazil has always been a place of great Formula 1 fans, and this event will be particularly exciting as it pays homage to Ayrton Senna. Caio represents the future of racing for Brazilians, he is talented and this will be an excellent first opportunity for him behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car."
