F1 | Renault, Hulkenberg: “Historically in China tire management has always been difficult”

Not even time to recharge the batteries before Formula 1 flies to China for the third round of the 2018 World Championship. After two rather positive GPs, the Renault in Shanghai he searches for confirmation: Nico Hulkenberg e Carlos Sainz, on the official website of the French team, illustrated the next trip to the East in this way.

Hulkenberg: “We definitely learned a lot last weekend and head to China with some things to work on. Every track is different and I'm sure China will bring its own challenges. We will try to continue to improve. The Shanghai track is famous for the endless combination between Turn 1 and Turn 2. It's a complicated area because it's easy to get into it quickly, especially during qualifying: also, it eats up your left front tyre. Historically, tire management in China has always been difficult. The 13th is another long right-hander that requires even more life from the tires. After this first unique sector, the rest of the lap has a bit of everything: both low and high speed, and this makes it difficult to find a balanced setup”.

Sainz: “In the end, Bahrain was a frustrating weekend, we finished just outside the points. But now I'm focused on China and looking forward to a positive weekend. It's a track that I really like and I'm sure we can do very well here. Last year was certainly one of my most memorable Grands Prix. It was a risky decision to start the race on dry tires while everyone else was on intermediates. Fortunately, risks sometimes pay off and I capitalized by finishing 7th. It was definitely interesting!”.
