F1 | Renault, Hulkenberg: “Wasted too much time during the morning”
Palmer: "It's important to recover in FP3"
Difficult day for Renault on the Monaco street circuit. Despite a series of adjustments carried out between FP1 and FP2, Jolyon Palmer and Nico Hulkenberg missed much of Thursday due to some mechanical issues with the RS17. The German, author of the seventeenth time in free practice 2, missed the entire first session due to a hydraulic problem. A significant handicap if we consider the "particular" conditions that can be found in Monte Carlo. Jolyon Palmer was also blocked as the Englishman had to park his car at the entrance to the tunnel due to a power unit failure.
Here are the words of Nico Hulkenberg: “We made some progress in the afternoon, but the time lost in the morning caused us quite a few problems. The guys did a fantastic job to get me on track in FP2 and the data collected will allow us to better prepare for Saturday's qualifying. We are behind, perhaps further than we would have liked, but we know where to intervene and we hope to improve during free practice on Saturday morning. We have to make up for today's lost time."
Here are Jolyon Palmer's impressions: “In Monaco it is very important to accumulate laps to increase the feeling with the car. This morning everything went well, while in the afternoon we were stopped by the power unit breaking. We have some potential to bring out and we hope to be able to do it on Saturday morning."
