F1 | Renault, Hulkenberg: “2017 is a year to build”

Hulkenberg he is in fact very satisfied with what the team managed to build this year, but he knows that the next one will be a very complicated championship: "2017 was a year of construction, shining would have been rare, but in the end it was great to finish the season with a result that makes us return home with our heads held high,” commented Hulkenberg to Formula 1. “In this respect, Abu Dhabi was a closing curtain on 2017, but it showed that we are moving in the right direction. The goal is to fight at the top of the rankings and that hasn't changed at all,” he added.

The French team will have very valid opponents for the next year season: “We know that we still have to improve in certain areas, but the signs encourage us a lot, because in terms of pace we are improving more and more, in fact I am very proud of how we progress and what we do to improve compared to how we started at the beginning of the season,” he underlined. Definitely the arrival of Sainz in the team it helped a lot in the chase to sixth place: “Sixth position in the Constructors' Championship will mean a lot morally because finishing with a solid result helps everyone and, of course, more money always helps, there's no doubt about that!”, he said. “I would say we had a good package throughout the second half of the season, although we had a lot of problems, which cost us a lot of good results and a lot of points along the way, so yeah, Abu Dhabi was a bit of a bounce back , somehow, from what we had lost and end on a positive note,” he said.
