F1 | Renault, Cyril Abiteboul: “We managed to redeem ourselves in the race”

The Mexican Grand Prix slightly boosted Renault's morale after the disqualification from the Japanese race. Despite a disappointing qualifying, which left them out of Q3, Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg were able to exploit their tires and strategies to both finish in the points, albeit with some accidents.

"Every weekend it seems like the circumstances change, but the script remains essentially the same: poor qualifying, and redemption during the race thanks to aggressive strategic choices and solid execution. Today was another example of this, thanks also to the choice of the starting compound” these are the words of Cyril Abiteboul, who remains, together with his team, with a bitter taste in his mouth, aware that the haul of points could have been more substantial.

"The picture would have been perfect if Daniel had run cleanly against Perez on one side, and Kvyat had instead not been aggressive against Nico, helping Gasly on the other side. Competitions go like that, but I prefer that we focus on ourselves. The drivers did an extraordinary job to get the best out of qualifying and therefore make the tires last in the race. The team also did a phenomenal job addressing the issues on Saturday morning. We must get rid of everything that undermines our potential or offers easy opportunities on or off the track to our fierce competitors” finished the French team principal.
