F1 | Renault, Alonso on track in Barcelona with the RS20

Fernando Alonso's official return to Formula One is fast approaching, starting next season, but in the meantime the two-time world champion is on track in Barcelona driving the Renault RS20. A necessary test for the Spaniard, in reality it is a filming day (the 100 kilometers scheduled for advertising purposes for each team, which the French team had not yet used this year), which thus returns to familiarizing himself live with a single-seater of Formula One after a long absence.

Next year Alonso will replace Daniel Ricciardo at Renault, which will change its name to Alpine Team, as he is betrothed to McLaren, thus teaming up with Esteban Ocon. This season the transalpine team has grown a lot in terms of performance, as demonstrated by the podium achieved last Sunday at the Nürburgring with the Australian driver, and the arrival of Alonso - who returned to Enstone for the third time in his career - will be able to grant him yet another upgrade .

"Getting back behind the wheel will be an incredible feeling – said Alonso in the video posted this morning on social media by Renault – It's very special to be in Barcelona again. I remember that my first test with Benetton was in 2000. It will be the same circuit, 20 years after that first test. It will be one of the last opportunities with a car with the Renault brand because next year it will change. Preparing for the test wasn't easy.
