F1 | Renault, Abiteboul: “Hulkenberg and Sainz provided positive feedback on the RS18”

The first approach with the RS18 he satisfied Nico Hulkenberg, Carlos Sainz and the rest of the team. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the first four days of testing in Barcelona allowed Renault to identify substantial improvements compared to last season's single-seater.

The team principal Cyril Abiteboul he expressed himself like this about this first week of work at Montmeló: “This week we tasted the potential of the Renault RS18 on track for the first time, albeit in very cold, wet and unrepresentative conditions. We administered the majority of our ride during the early morning and late afternoon, with plenty of rain, sleet, and even snow: it wasn't a normal test week for anyone. Obviously, it is very early to understand our car, but both Nico and Carlos have provided some positive feedback. Our teams in Enstone and Viry-Châtillon have worked very hard on this car and their attention to detail has been highlighted by our positive feedback when conditions have permitted. Next week we will aim for significantly higher mileage”.
