F1 | Red Bull, Verstappen: “I'm satisfied, but it's too early to set goals”

Max Verstappen is satisfied after the first day of free practice in Baku. The Dutch driver finished in fourth place, a few tenths behind Hamilton, and despite this morning's problems with the manhole caught by Russell and the crane that decided to pass under a bridge that was too low, Jos' son still tested positive in view of the weekend, although being able to set objectives between now and Sunday is very complicated at the moment having lost practically an entire session, also peppered with two red flags in the afternoon tests.

“Not racing in the morning didn't hurt us too much, because it was like that for everyone and FP2 is always the most important on Friday – said Verstappen. The track is very slippery, and as we saw it was easy to lock up or go long, so it was important to complete as many laps as possible and get used to the track conditions. You have to drive to the limit, and with the grip we have we can only do it lap after lap, especially on a road track and with a lot of dirt, you have to adapt. I am satisfied with what we have achieved today, now we will look at the data as there are always areas to improve, but above all the set-up. We don't have any targets yet with just one session completed and everyone can still improve a lot, but the initial balance seems very good and we have completed a good number of laps on the two main compounds."
