F1 | Red Bull, Verstappen: “I'm not worried about the reliability of the Honda engine”
The Dutchman: "Most of the time Toro Rosso took penalties by choice"
The reliability of the Honda engine is not a concern Max Verstappen. In 2019, the Japanese company will supply its power unit to Red Bull, fresh from its turbulent divorce from Renault: a discreet aura of skepticism, however, continues to hover around the solidity of the Tokyo engine manufacturer. Despite the improvements made this year, in fact, the Toro Rosso-Honda he received numerous penalties, exceeding the number of usable components with both Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley.
According to Verstappen, however, this is not synonymous with poor reliability: “I don't think they had many problems” – declared ad Motorsport. “Most of the time maybe they had bad qualifying so it didn't make much difference to them to fit a new component and that's what they're doing. I'm not too worried. There are still quite a few races to come to understand the package and, for next year, there will be a new engine, it's different. They learn from their mistakes, which is good. It's happening in other brands too, not just Honda. So, I'm not too worried.".
