Tenth podium finish of the season for Max Verstappen. In fact, the Dutchman came second in the Bahrian Grand Prix, behind Lewis Hamilton's winning Mercedes. The Red Bull standard-bearer managed to take second place at the start of the first start, where he took the position on Valtteri Bottas' W11 and never lost it again.

In the last stint of the race Verstappen attempted to fit a new set of medium tyres, improving the fastest lap he already had. With the 19 points obtained today, Max moved within 12 points of the second position in the Drivers' Championship occupied by Bottas.

At the end of the race, the Dutchman spoke about the frightening accident involving Romain Grosjean while driving his Haas: “Yes it was scary, I saw the red flag and that doesn't mean it has to be something bad. But I saw the fire which is not positive, fortunately he is well and I hope he recovers quickly".

Then speaking about the race, and the comparison with Hamilton, he said: “We missed a little something, I tried to stay close but they had an answer to everything we tried to do. Maybe we weren't aggressive enough with the strategy and our pit stop was too slow. Second place isn't bad".

Next week we return to the track again in Bahrain, but on a shorter and faster layout: “Normally it's not suitable for us with all these straights – admitted Verstappen – The car seems to work quite well and we hope to find a little bit more pace in the corners and we'll see how it goes".
