F1 | Red Bull, Verstappen: “Did my best”

Fifth position for Max Verstappen in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, seventh round of the 2017 Formula One World Championship. The Dutchman from Red Bul got the most out of his RB13, placing himself behind the fastest Ferrari and Mercedes. In fact, on a power circuit, the Austrian team aimed to limit the damage and this partially happened. The objective will now be to stay as close as possible to Bottas' Mercedes, trying to exploit every slightest imperfection of the Finnish driver. However, it is more difficult to keep up with Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen, who are significantly faster over long distances.

Here are the words of Max Verstappen: “We know that this circuit is not suited to our characteristics and for this reason we philosophically take this fifth position on the starting grid. We achieved the maximum considering the superior pace of Mercedes and Ferrari. They manage to bring out more horsepower during Q3 and this penalizes us heavily. In the race, however, the situation is different and we hope to stay as close to them as possible. Our pace seems ok, so it will be a race to discover. The updates we have brought have worked very well and this shows that we are going in the right direction."
