F1 | Red Bull, Verstappen: “It's difficult to understand where this gap comes from”

Max Verstappen chews bitterly at the end of qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Dutchman had to settle for the second row, being preceded by the Mercedes of poleman Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas and having to pay for more than four tenths of a delay from his best performance. The Red Bull standard-bearer will have a great chance at the start, where he will be able to count on the soft tires compared to the medium ones that the Star drivers will use.

"It is difficult to understand where this gap comes from – declared Verstappen at the end of qualifying at the Hungaroring – We were certainly behind throughout the weekend, we proved it again in qualifying. It's not what we wanted, but in any case we're still there in third place and we'll see what we can do. So far it's not what I wanted".

Speaking about the strategy he then added: “It will be different. The grip will be higher with those tyres, but we'll find out tomorrow. It will be very hot, so the soft won't last as long as the medium. In any case we will have a good opportunity, let's think about the start. With the mediums we could have taken a risk, so we decided to go out on the softs to qualify".
