F1 | Red Bull, Sergio Perez out of the points: "Weekend to forget"

Uphill race for Sergio Perez, who started from the pit lane after yesterday's mistake in Sprint Race Qualifying. The Mexican opts for a two-stop strategy, climbing up to the points zone, but at the last minute the team decides to sacrifice him and the ranking in the constructors' championship: Checo returns to the pits to snatch the additional point for the fastest lap from Lewis Hamilton - a point that will not be awarded to the Red Bull driver, as he is outside the top 10. Perez is only sixteenth at the finish line: a disastrous weekend for him, who returns home with zero points.

"I am very disappointed with my weekend and my performances. I wasn't able to improve as much as I expected and I had difficulties with the tyres – explained the Mexican – as soon as we managed to enter the DRS area, overtaking became impossible. I think seventh place was a real target today, with a couple more laps I think we could have caught Lance and Fernando, but in the end for strategic reasons we decided to stop for the fastest lap. It's a weekend to forget for us, we lost ground in the constructors' championship, we have to regroup, work hard and come back stronger than before in Hungary. I need to look back at the accident between Max and Lewis, but the most important thing is that Max is okay".
