When asked about the issue by the columns of Autosport, Daniel Ricciardo complimented Max Verstappen for the growth he had during the last championship. The Australian from Red Bull, author of a final part of the season below expectations, underlined the mental growth of the Dutch driver, highlighting how now, despite the controversies, he manages to respect all the competitors on the track. According to Ricciardo, every move he makes is thought out and considered, especially when it comes to important points for the team. It's a completely different Verstappen who will know how to play his cards in 2018.

Here are the words of Daniel Ricciardo: “The events in Budapest were a test. Max handled the situation well, apologizing to me and the team immediately after the race. He did what he had to do. Our relationship? There is mutual respect and I must admit that during the last season he matured a lot. On the track, now, he thinks more and every move he makes is thought out and considered. He respects all the competitors and that's a good thing. We have never fought for the title, which is why it is difficult to imagine a situation, but I don't think we would get to the rivalry we had between Nico and Lewis. There is transparency between us and this allows us not to have problems. Blaming the other part of the team leads to nothing, only problems and controversies. I prefer to contract on mine."
