On the Chinese GP: "The podium would be an excellent result"
Daniel Ricciardo is certain that Mercedes is reluctant, despite the empty defeat suffered in the Australian Grand Prix, won by Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari, the most competitive single-seater currently in Formula One.
Vettel's success in Melbourne broke a string of five consecutive successes with which the Stella team had closed 2016, culminating in the conquest of the constructors' and drivers' titles with Nico Rosberg: "In a way it's good that someone has interrupted Mercedes' hegemony”, declared Ricciardo al South China Morning Post.
"I think Mercedes continues to have the best package – Ricciardo's thoughts – still proving to be the single-seater to beat. I hope that the possibility of fighting with them for the title can seriously materialize".
Having put aside the difficult home race in Melbourne, where he was forced to retire, Ricciardo sets his goal for the Chinese Grand Prix: "The podium would be an excellent result for us, we need to get closer to Ferrari and Mercedes".
