F1 | Red Bull, Perez: “It's essential to help Max, I'm sure he would do the same”

The teamwork implemented in Red Bull is proving to be fundamental at the start of the season, with Milton Keynes leading both the Constructors' and Drivers' World Championships with Max Verstappen. Sergio Perez discussed the topic, with the Mexican admitting that the situation would have been (or would be) the same if he were in the Dutchman's place. Checo's words reveal that union which, in a very tight championship like the current one, can make the difference in the world championship comparison between Red Bull and Mercedes.

"It's vital that we help Max and I'm sure he would do the same if needed,” said Perez, quoted by SoyMotor.

The former Racing Point driver, discussing the race at Paul Ricard, said: “I knew Max was catching up to me. It was very important that he didn't waste time. And even I, who was going with a different strategy, shouldn't have missed it. So letting it pass was essential for both of us. I lost a second and a half for opening the door, but Max didn't lose anything, so the result was very good. I'm competing to give my best for myself, but also so that the result is beneficial for the team. So I did what I had to do".
