Only a fifth position for Sergio Perez at the end of the second free practice session in Melbourne. The Red Bull driver was unable to come close to Max Verstappen's performance, falling behind the two Ferraris, Alonso and the Dutch champion himself. After the defeats in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, Checo necessarily has to get back into the right rhythm, trying to conquer a podium in the land of kangaroos.

“Pretty busy Friday for us – Checo admitted. We made some changes in the second session that we need to analyze, because some things don't work properly. The car worked better in some aspects, in others it didn't, it was more competitive in the morning, so there is a lot to work on to understand which direction to take. It was a difficult day in terms of mileage, but there is satisfying data to analyze tonight. If we can find a few tenths, the weekend would turn in our favor, we just need to understand where we are at the moment with the car."
