F1 | Red Bull, Max Verstappen: “It will be difficult to beat the Ferraris”

Subdued day for Red Bull and Max Verstappen. The Dutchman set the second fastest time in the first free practice session at the Hungaroring, just over a tenth behind Carlos Sainz. Completely different situation in FP2: this time the other Ferrari is in the lead, that of rival Charles Leclerc, but this time the Red Bull world champion stops in fourth position, almost three tenths behind the Monegasque. Times were not particularly brilliant for the Austrian team, not even in the race simulation: Verstappen lost to Ferrari, but also to Alpine and McLaren. The rain expected for qualifying could upset everything regarding the determination of the starting grid, but the track is expected to be wet from the morning and it will be difficult for Red Bull to resolve the problems with the race pace as soon as possible.

F1 | Race pace analysis in Hungary: Ferrari flies, Verstappen seems to be in difficulty

"As expected, it was a complicated day on this track, we were trying to find the right set-up for both qualifying and race pace, but the solutions worked at times, there is still work to do. I think the Ferraris will be ahead of us this weekend and it will be difficult to beat them – admitted Verstappen – we will work hard tonight to try to close the gap as much as possible. It seems that the weather could change the cards on the table for qualifying. In the dry we struggle a bit, but in the wet it could be a completely different story: who knows, we'll see tomorrow".
