F1 | Red Bull, Max Verstappen: “It's not the result I wanted”

Singapore doesn't give gifts to anyone, not even to Max Verstappen: the Dutch driver yesterday only managed to finish eighth, after a disastrous handling of the Red Bull wall with a load of petrol. At the start Verstappen lost positions, slipping to twelfth place. The overtakings arrive, slowly but steadily, until Max finds himself facing the wall of Fernando Alonso who, in his 350th Grand Prix, has no intention of leaving room for any opponent. It is the withdrawal of the Asturian that unlocks the world champion's race on the twenty-first lap: even after the pit stop for the slicks, on the thirty-sixth lap, Max returns to sixth position, but evidently thanks to the tires not being up to temperature, upon his return The Dutchman is blocked by the Safety Car and ends up in an escape route. With the tires now destroyed, Verstappen returns to the pits, returning in twelfth position and creating a train with Vettel and Hamilton: of the twelve world titles, it is the youngest who wins, crossing the finish line in seventh position. Only two points for him, who postpones the world celebration to the next appointment in Japan.

"The race didn't start well, I certainly had anti-stall and had to overtake several riders. It was very difficult to overtake the others, once the tires were up to temperature I was stuck. I tried the undercut with Lando on the Safety Car, but it didn't work – explained Max – I tried, but when braking I hit the bump with the bottom and it locked up. The tires were too flat and I had to return to the pits. I tried to get back into the points, but this is obviously not the result I wanted. The rumors about the budget cap on penalized me: I have faith in the team and the team itself knows it did everything correctly".
