F1 | Red Bull, Max Verstappen is on pole: “Let's focus on the first lap”

Max Verstappen wins the fifteenth pole position of his career, the first in Canada. The world champion did not have to fight against this year's rival, Charles Leclerc, for first position, due to the penalties that we will see the Monegasque starting from the last row. Certainly the track conditions did not give the Dutchman the green light, who however had to deal with several outsiders. Pole still remains his business, but for the first time Max will have an unexpected partner at the start: Fernando Alonso returns to the front row for the first time in ten years, when Verstappen was not yet in Formula 1, while the other Spaniard from Ferrari , Carlos Sainz, will be right behind him in third position, ready to attack at the first corner.

"Today was simply amazing. The conditions were quite complicated, the track was slippery, but we kept our concentration making sure we got out on the track at the right time to do some good timed laps. It was a beautiful day and all in all the whole weekend is going very well – said the world champion – It's a shame for Checo, but I hope he can recover positions during the race. We will have to concentrate on the first lap and then on our race, I expect some good battles anyway. It's been a long time since Fernando and I have been side by side on the grid, I admired him as a child when I watched Formula 1 and he won races and titles, it's great to share the front row with him".
